FLASH FLOOD WATCH IS IN EFFECT FOR THE VI

The Antigua Met Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for the Virgin Islands from 8am to 8pm Wednesday 24TH August 2016.A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to moderate to major flooding in low lying and flood prone areas.

The Virgin Islands is presently experiencing moisture ahead of a strong tropical wave (Invest 99L). The system continues to maintain a fifty percent chance of development as it moves to the West North West at 15 to 20 mph bringing it close to the territory. The system has the potential to create gusty winds, heavy rainfall and hazardous seas. Residents should continue to monitor the system and be prepared for any sudden changes.
