The Department of Disaster Management (DDM) in the British Virgin Islands is pleased to join in celebrating and recognizing the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency’s (CDEMA’s) contribution to promoting the practice of Comprehensive Disaster Management (CDM) in the region.
The CDM principle is one which the DDM has fully incorporated and continue to integrate in all sectors with support and guidance from CDEMA.
As a region, we are constantly faced with the possibility of being impacted by natural and man-made hazards. This, coupled with the effects of climate change, requires an all-embracing effort to prepare for, respond to and mitigate against hazard impacts.
So, as you celebrate this milestone, rest assured that the DDM will continue to work towards developing resilient SMART Communities throughout the Virgin Islands. In so doing, we will be contributing to what CDERA started 25 years ago and which has since evolved to the premier regional institution for CDM—CDEMA.
Happy Anniversary and our best wishes for another 25 plus years!
