Residents are advised that a significant plume of Saharan dust is currently affecting the territory and is expected to persist until at least Sunday afternoon.

What This Means for You:

  • Reduced air quality: The dust particles can irritate the respiratory system.

  • Hazy skies: Visibility may be reduced, especially at higher elevations.

  • Warmer temperatures: The dust layer can trap heat near the surface.

Who Should Be Most Cautious:

  • Individuals with asthma or respiratory conditions

  • Children and the elderly

  • People engaging in outdoor exercise or strenuous activities

Safety Tips:

✅ Limit prolonged outdoor activity, especially in the heat of the day.
✅ Keep windows and doors closed to prevent dust from entering your home.
✅ Use air purifiers if available and stay in well-ventilated indoor spaces.
✅ Those with respiratory issues should keep medication close by and follow doctors’ advice.
✅ Consider wearing a mask if you must be outdoors for extended periods.

While this event is temporary, your health and comfort are our priority. The Department of Disaster Management will continue to monitor conditions and issue updates as necessary.
