We are now three weeks into the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, and while activity remains minimal, conditions are beginning to shift.
Current Situation
- There have been no named storms so far this season.
- Invest 90L, located approximately 1250 miles to north-northeast of the Territory. It is no threat to land.
- Additionally, three tropical waves are moving across the Atlantic Basin, which is typical for this time of year.
What to Expect
Over the next few weeks, the following changes are anticipated in the Atlantic basin:
- Trade winds will weaken, allowing sea surface temperatures to rise more rapidly.
- The tropical Atlantic is warming, especially in the Main Development Region.
- Wind shear is expected to ease, creating a more favorable environment for tropical storm formation.
These developments suggest a possible increase in activity from early to mid-July, including the potential for systems to approach the eastern Caribbean.
