According to the Antigua Met Service, an active tropical wave continues to affect weather conditions across the Leeward Islands and, by later tonight, the BVI.

Cloudy skies with moderate to heavy showers were reported across most of the islands this (Saturday) morning, in hourly observations. Satellite imagery and radar graphics shows the abundance of moisture andinstability in the atmosphere across the area at this time.

The latest forecast indicate that we will see even more intense shower activity accompanied by isolated thunderstorms possibly later this evening into tonight and tomorrow morning. Minor flash flooding is possible in low lying and flood prone areas during that time. Gusty winds are also possible during the passing of this system.

Residents urged to monitor the system as it moves closer to the territory. The Department of Disaster Management will continue to monitor the systems and advise the public accordingly.
