INVEST 92L. /DISTURBANCE 1 CONTINUES BECOME ORGANIZED… EXPECTED TO IMPACT THE LESSER ANTILLES IN A FEW DAYS

27th July 2020 – The National Hurricane Centre and other Meteorological Services in the region, continue to monitor the progress of Invest 92L/Disturbance 1. The system continues to develop and may be upgraded to a Tropical Depression or Tropical Storm today or tomorrow. If it is upgraded to a tropical storm, Isaias will be the ninth tropical storm for the season

Forecasters have indicated that the disturbance may begin affecting the Lesser Antilles from late Wednesday into Thursday and the British Virgin Islands late Thursday into Friday.

Forecasters have still not ruled out the system being a CAT1 hurricane before reaching our area. Residents should finalize hurricane plans and continue to monitor the progress of Disturbance 1

As of 5 AM Disturbance 1 was located 11 degrees north , 41 degrees west or about 1638 miles east southeast of the British Virgin Islands. It is moving to the west-northwest near 20 mph. This motion should continue for the next 2 to 3 days The chance of tropical development according to the National Hurricane Centre is 80 percent in 48 hours and  90 percent in five days.
