20th November 2017 – Synopsis: A lingering surface trough across Hispaniola will continue to generate unsettled weather conditions across the islands until the Atlantic subtropical ridge once again begins to dominate. Possible rainfall total for the forecast period is 2 to 8 mm (0.08 to 0.3 inch).
Weather today: Partly sunny with a 40 percent or moderate chance of showers.
Weather tonight: Partly cloudy with a 30 percent or low chance of showers.
Winds: be East-southeast to east ranging between 11 to 22 km/h or 6 to 12 knots.
Seas: Moderate with wave heights 1.2 to 1.8 meters or 4 to 6 feet.
Sunset today: 5:41 pm.
Sunrise tomorrow: 6:28 am.
In addition, with the soils in the Territory already saturated, additional rainfall can cause ponding on roads, extreme hillside water run-off, increased mudslides and falling rocks.
Residents are urged to exercise caution while driving and pay close attention to undermined sections of roads.
Do not attempt to drive in fast moving water and caution should be exercised while driving across roads that are not visible due to flooding.
Residents are also urged to exercise caution driving across ponded roads as holes that are not visible may be deep and can cause damage to vehicles or injury.
