Monthly Early Warning System Test

Monthly Early Warning System Test

July 25, 20191624Views

The Department of Disaster Management is informing the public that the National Early Warning and Multi Hazard Alert System  will be tested Friday, July 26, at 2 pm. This test is carried out on the fourth Friday of every month.

The public is not expected to react once the siren is sounded, as this is only a test. Schools and businesses are, however, encouraged to use the opportunity of the monthly system activation to test their contingency plans.

As a part of the test, the public is asked to tune into ZBVI, ZCBN, or ZKING for test messages from the Department of Disaster Management. This test is being conducted to assess the broadcast capabilities of the system.

Members of the public are reminded that text messaging is part of the Early Warning System in the BVI, therefore text messages should be issued by cellular providers CCT, Digicel and FLOW.

The Department of Disaster Management is grateful to the residents of the BVI for their ongoing support and cooperation in this regard.
