MORE SHOWERS POSSIBLE DUE TO UNSTABLE WEATHER CONDITIONS

November 19, 20171793Views

19th November 2017 – The continued presence of the frontal trough system coupled with a low level trough will keep the atmosphere unstable across the islands for the next 24hrs.

Weather today: Cloudy with a high or 70 percent chance of showers and a slight chance of afternoon thunderstorms.

Weather tonight: Cloudy with a moderate or 50 percent chance of showers.

Winds: South at 6 to 15 km/h or 3 to 8 knots; however, winds could become variable or near calm at times.

Seas: Moderate with wave heights not exceeding 1.5 m or 5 feet.

Sunset today:  5:41 pm.

Sunrise tomorrow:  6:27 am.

With the soils in the Territory already saturated, additional rainfall can cause ponding on roads, extreme hillside water run-off, increased mudslides and falling rocks.

Residents are urged to exercise caution while driving and pay close attention to undermined sections of roads.

Do not attempt to drive in fast moving water and caution should be exercised while driving across roads that are not visible due to flooding.

Residents are also urged to exercise caution driving across ponded roads as holes that are not visible may be deep and can cause damage to vehicles or injury.

The Department of Disaster Management will continue to monitor the weather conditions and provide updates when necessary.

Please continue to monitor local media stations, DDM’s website at   bviddm.com) and Facebook at BVIDDM for regular updates.
