MORE SHOWERS POSSIBLE DUE TO UPPER LEVEL TROUGH

According to the National Weather Service, an upper level trough to the west of the region will maintain instability aloft to support early morning passing showers and isolated to scattered afternoon convection across the coastal waters and some of the islands at least through mid-week. Some of the afternoon showers may produce brief periods of moderate to locally heavy rainfall in isolated areas each day. Near seasonal temperatures can be expected for the next several days. Winds will be mainly from the east to southeast 5 to 15 mph except for the sea breeze variations.

With the soils in the Territory already saturated, additional rainfall can cause ponding on roads, extreme hillside water run-off, increased mudslides and falling rocks.

Residents are urged to exercise caution while driving and pay close attention to undermined sections of roads. Do not attempt to drive in fast moving water and caution should be exercised while driving across roads that are not visible due to flooding.

The Department of Disaster Management will continue to monitor the weather conditions and provide updates when necessary.

Please continue to monitor local media stations, DDM’s website at   bviddm.com) and Facebook at BVIDDM for regular updates.
