The Government of the Virgin Islands in collaboration with the BVI Christian Council is inviting the residents to a National Service of Thanksgiving and Unity at the Queen Elizabeth II Park on Sunday, November 5 at 3:30 p.m.
This initiative is the brainchild of Premier of the Virgin Islands, Dr. the Honourable D. Orlando Smith, OBE who reached out to the church community to organise a thanksgiving and unity service where the community can come together to collectively seek God’s guidance as the recovery and restoration efforts continue following the passage of hurricanes Irma and Maria.
Premier Smith said the passage of the hurricanes has been a sobering experience for everyone. He added that the Territory is now presented with the opportunity to reset its compass, grow stronger in community spirit and strength.
He said because God has been good to the Territory, the community has to band together to make sure that the work which started immediately after the hurricanes is continued to get the Territory back on track.
Some of the participating churches include the New Life Baptist Church, Church of God of Prophecy, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the Seventh Day Adventist Church, the New Testament Church of God and the Church of God of Holiness.
