The National Hurricane Centre continues to monitor the remnants of Tropical Storm Kirk as it is showing signs of redevelopment.

September 25 2018

The remnants of Tropical Depression 11 in conjunction with an upper level low could enhance conditions to produce showers and thunderstorms today.

Winds will be from the east at 10 to 20 mph with higher gusts in the vicinity of thunderstorms.

Seas can get up to 7 feet in the Atlantic. Small craft operators are asked to exercise caution due to sea conditions and sea bathers are asked to exercise caution due to the possibility of rip currents on northern coasts.

REMNANTS OF KIRK

The remnants of Kirk are located approximately 1100 miles east of the Windward Islands moving West at 25 mph. The system is showing signs of redevelopment with heavy shower and thunderstorm activity in addition to gusty winds in the northern quadrant. The National Hurricane Centre has indicated a 60% chance of redevelopment in 48 hours.

Regardless of development Forecasters’ think the system will produce gusty winds and heavy showers and thunderstorms to the Leeward Islands and Windward Islands as it moves across the area.

Forecasters think the system will have minimal effects on the British Virgin Islands. The DDM will continue to monitor and provide updates if this changes.
