Tropical Storm Karen continues to move away from the British Virgin Islands and is no longer a threat to the territory. This will be the final update issued on Karen by the Department of Disaster Management.

SEPTEMBER 25, 2019 At 11AM, Karen was located 21.7 degrees north, 64.9 degrees west or approximately 229 miles north of the British Virgin Islands. Maximum sustained winds are 45 mph with higher gusts. Tropical storm force winds extend outward up 70 miles from the centre. Karen continues to move north with a slight increase in forward speed at 15 mph, which may decrease when Karen begins to move north eastward on Friday.

As unstable weather pattern persists with the possibility of more showers, a flash flood warning remains in place until 2PM. Sea conditions are gradually subsiding so marine warnings have been discontinued, however mariners and seas bathers are still ask to exercise caution.

As soils are saturated and roadways are still damp, motorists are asked to exercise caution due to the possibility of loose rocks and debris while traversing roads. As Karen continues to move further away, more stable conditions will begin to move into to the local area.
