TROPICAL UPDATE FOR THE VIRGIN ISLANDS

Residents and visitors are advised to remain weather aware as the tropical Atlantic continues to show signs of early-season activity. At this time, no immediate threats to the Territory are expected, but we are closely monitoring the following developments:

  • Potential Tropical Storm Barry may form briefly in the Gulf of Mexico. It is well away from the Virgin Islands and poses no threat to the territory.

  • Two tropical waves are approaching the eastern Caribbean and can increase the chance of showers over the weekend and in the upcoming week.

  • No major weather threats expected, but unsettled conditions are possible.

Recommended Safety Tips:

  • Stay updated with official weather updates

  • Clear drains to prevent flooding.

  • Secure loose outdoor items.

  • Avoid outdoor activities during storms.

  • Have your emergency kit ready.

The Department of Disaster Management will continue to monitor these systems and share timely updates as needed. Staying informed and prepared early is essential for safety throughout the hurricane season.
