TROPICAL WAVE SOUTHEAST OF THE LEEWARD ISLANDS

September 29, 20101537Views

29th September 2010 – A Tropical Wave over the Central Atlantic, located about 900 miles east of the Windward Islands is producing limited showers and thunderstorms.  Development of this system, if any, will be slow as it moves towards the west to west-northwestward at 15 to 20 mph.  Presently the system is not a threat to the Virgin Islands, however as these systems get closer, there could be a sudden change in development and projected path.

The public is reminded that we are in the peak of the 2010 Atlantic hurricane season. Persons should monitor weather conditions for any sudden change.

The DDM remains on high alert, monitoring systems and providing weather releases as necessary. Please visit the Department of Disaster Management’s website at www.bviddm.com for continuously updated information.
