Viona Alexander-Smith is a Montserratian Media and Communications Practitioner and Journalist with 10 years’ experience in the broadcasting field. She started her media career in 2005 at Radio Montserrat where she has held a number of positions—Announcer, Production Assistant, Reporter and Acting Multimedia Editor.
In 2012, Mrs. Alexander-Smith graduated from the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, Jamaica with a 1st class honours Bachelors of Arts Degree in Media and Communication, having completed the three year course at the Caribbean Institute for Media and Communication (CARIMAC). During her course of study, Viona specialized in Public Relations which exposed her to the theoretical and practical aspects of this field.
She will now take up the post of Information and Education Manager at the Department of Disaster Management in the British Virgin Islands where she is expected to increase public awareness of disaster threats utilizing a number of communication methods and public relations efforts.
