WEATHER FORECAST FOR THE VIRGIN ISLANDS

Synopsis: Moisture and instability linked to a tropical wave, along with pockets of low-level moisture moving across the area on moderate to fresh winds, will maintain an increased chance of showers over and around the islands during the next 24 hours.

 Weather today: Mostly partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with a 60 percent or moderate chance of brief passing showers.

Weather tonight: Partly cloudy skies, with brief cloudy spells and a 70 percent or high chance of overnight showers.

 Winds: East at 19 to 33 km/h or 12 to 21 mph, gusting up to 48 km/h or 30 mph during showers, as well as over open waters and in elevated areas.

 Seas: 1.5 to 2.1 meters or 5 to 7 feet. Small craft operators should continue to exercise caution.

 Sunset today: 6:59 pm.
