SMALL CRAFT WARNING AND WIND ADVISORY REMAIN IN EFFECT FOR THE VI

December 29, 20182038Views

29th December 2018 – The Antigua and Barbuda Meteorological Services has indicated a steep pressure gradient associated with a strong high pressure system will continue to produce fairly high winds and very rough seas across the area during the next 24 hours. In addition, moisture and instability associated with a weak moisture line will be transported over and around the islands on this strong wind flow, thus maintaining a high chance of showers during that time.

Weather today: Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with a 70 percent or high chance of showers.

Weather tonight: Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with a 60 percent or moderate chance of showers

Winds: East-northeast at 30 to 46 km/h or 16 to 25 knots, gusting to 56 km/h or 30 knots during showers as well as over open waters. Wind Advisory remains in effect until the 30 December 2018. See previous release for details.

Seas: Rough with swells reaching 2.4 to 3.1 metres or 8 to 10 feet. Hence a firm warning remains in place for small craft operators and sea bathers against dangerous sea conditions until 30 December 2018. In fact, small craft operators should stay in port due to these hazardous marine conditions..

Sunset today:  5:52 pm.

Sunrise tomorrow:  6:49 am.
