A High Surf & Small Craft Warning Goes Into Effect Today For The Virgin Islands

Synopsis: Tropical Storm Tammy is approaching the Leeward Islands and weather and marine conditions will deteriorate later tonight with its passage. Moisture and instability associated with Tammy will produce showers and thunderstorms as well as gusty winds and above normal seas. Possible rainfall total over the next twenty four hours is 50.8 to 203.2 mm or 2.0 to 4.0 inches.

Weather today: Cloudy with showers and a 40 percent or moderate chance of thunderstorms.

Weather tonight: Cloudy to overcast with showers and a 60 percent or moderate chance of thunderstorms .

Winds: East at 22 to 37 km/h or 14 to 23 mph with gusts possibly peaking to near 56 km/h or 35 mph.

Seas: 3.0 to 5.5 metres to 10 to 18 feet with swells of 2.1 to 3.0 metres or 7 to 10 feet. A high surf warning and small craft warning go into effect today.
