HEAVY THUNDERSTORMS APPROACHING THE VIRGIN ISLANDS

HEAVY THUNDERSTORMS APPROACHING THE VIRGIN ISLANDS

September 19, 20101129Views

An area of moisture is streaming north northeast across the southern Caribbean
waters being drawn by a broad circulation around hurricane Igor will continue
lifting northward today. Some of this moisture will affect the Virgin Islands later
in the day increasing the chance of showers and thunderstorms today and
tonight.

Some of these thunderstorms would be capable of producing strong gusty winds
of 35 mph or more along with locally heavy rainfall as they pass by. Residents and
visitors are reminded to exercise caution while driving on roads and during the
operation of small motor vessels at sea as conditions may deteriorate significantly
during the passing of thunderstorms.
