5.3 EARTHQUAKE OCCURS 150 MILES WEST OF SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO

There is no tsunami
threat for the British Virgin Islands following an earthquake this afternoon.

The National Tsunami
Warning Centre has confirmed that there is no tsunami danger following a 5.3 magnitude
earthquake which occurred this afternoon. The earthquake occurred 150 miles
West of San Juan, Puerto Rico, at a depth of 67 miles.

The Puerto Rico
Seismic Network (PRSN) has reported that the moderate earthquake was widely
felt throughout Puerto Rico. However, based on its magnitude, location and
historic record, it was not enough to generate a tsunami to affect Puerto Rico
and the Virgin Islands.
