DDM EXTENDS CONDOLENCES ON PASSING OF HORATIO TUITT

The
Department of Disaster Management (DDM) joins in expressing condolences on the
passing of Captain Horatio Tuitt who provided exemplary service and leadership
to the Disaster Management and Coordination Agency in Montserrat and the
Department of Disaster Management and Emergencies in Turks and Caicos Islands.

Members of
the DDM staff vividly recall working alongside Captain Tuitt when he served as
a member of Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) Rapid
Response Team and describe him as an astute individual.

With his
military background, Captain Tuitt was well-disciplined and relished structure
but his good leadership was evident through the flexibility he displayed, all
of which are desired characteristics in disaster management.

Captain
Tuitt was particularly skilled in telecommunications and EOC management, skills
he readily shared with regional neighbours when deployed or seconded.

His passing
has left a void but regional disaster managers who had the opportunity to make
his acquaintance would have fond memories and records will document his
commitment and years of service to the field of disaster management in
Montserrat and elsewhere in the Caribbean.

May he rest
in eternal peace.
