…TROPICAL STORM GABRIELLE HAS ENTERED THE MONITORED AREA…

AT 11PM ECT OR 0300Z THE CENTRE OF TROPICAL STORM GABRIELLE WAS LOCATED NEAR LATITUDE 17.0 NORTH, LONGITUDE 66.6 WEST OR ABOUT 70 MILES SOUTH OF PONCE PUERTO RICO.

TROPICAL STORM GABRIELLE IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTHWEST AT 8 MILES PER HOUR. THIS GENERAL MOTION IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 40 MPH WITH HIGHER GUSTS. SOME ADDITIONAL STRENGTHENING IS FORECAST DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS

TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS EXTEND UP TO 45 MILES FROM THE CENTRE.

THE ESTIMATED MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE IS 1008 MB OR 29.77 INCHES.

TROPICAL STORM GABRIELLE CONTINUES TO MOVE SLOWLY AWAY FROM THE LEEWARD ISLANDS AND BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS. HOWEVER LINGERING MOISTURE AND INSTABILITY FROM ITS PASSAGE, AS WELL AS AN APPROACHING TROPICAL WAVE WILL CONTINUE TO GENERATE CLOUDINESS, SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE LEEWARD ISLANDS AND BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS. AS A RESULT A FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT THE BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS UNTIL 6AM TOMORROW THURSDAY. RESIDENTS SHOULD CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF GABRIELLE UNTIL IT HAS CLEARED THE AREA ENTIRELY.
