The Department of Disaster management is monitoring a tropical wave that has formed in the Eastern Atlantic. At 2:00 p.m., a Tropical Wave (Invest 94L) was located near 12.4N 28W and moving westward near 15 mph. There has been little change in organization over the past 18 hours.
There is a 20 to 30 percent chance that the system could strengthen into a depression either today or tomorrow. However, most guidance indicates either no strengthening or slight strengthening. The Atlantic Hurricane Season runs from June 1 to November 30. Forecasters have predicted that activity this season will be below normal due to a relatively cool tropical Atlantic and El Nino.
