31ST August 2019 – The National Hurricane Centre (NHC) is presently monitoring a tropical wave which moved off the African Coast. This is system is around longitude 24 West, which would place it approximately over 2800 miles from the British Virgin Islands.  The wave could become a tropical depression next week as it moves west north westward across the Atlantic at a speed of 10 to 15 miles. The NHC has also indicated the possibility of this wave experiencing a ten percent chance of further development in two days and increasing this percentage to fifty percent in five days. The Department of Disaster Management will continue to monitor this system and provide updates where necessary.
