At 5:00 p.m., the centre of Tropical Storm Dorian was located near Latitude 16.5 North and Longitude 37.8 West. Dorian is moving toward the west-northwest near 18 mph.  This general motion is expected to continue tonight followed by a gradual turn toward the west by late Friday.

Maximum sustained winds are near 60 mph with higher gusts. Some slight strengthening is possible during the next 48 hours.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 60 miles from the centre.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 999 mb.

Expected Impacts Onshore

Virgin Islands 

Wind: On the current forecast track, Dorian’s 25+ mph winds should remain north of Virgin Islands.

Rainfall: About 1-2 inches of rain could fall as Dorian passes to the north. Rainfall totals would be higher if Dorian tracks near the southern edge of the forecast cone.

Storm Surge: No significant surge is expected as the centre should pass north of the islands.
