10TH November 2010 – 2PM– The Antigua Meteorological Service has extended the Flash Flood Warning until 6PM as more heavy showers are expected. A flash flood warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. Residents living in low lying areas or areas that are prone to flooding should take immediate precautions to protect life and property. Do not attempt to cross swiftly flowing waters or waters of unknown depth by foot or by automobile.

The low pressure area presently affecting the area is gradually moving slowly to the north east at a pace where it almost seems to be stationary. Based on the present forecast more showers and thunderstorms can be expected overnight and into tomorrow increasing the potential for flooding.

The Department of Disaster Management is advising the residents and visitors to monitor the weather conditions and the DDM website at www.bviddm.com for further updates.
