On Thursday evening, March 19, 2015, parents, teachers and some student of the Little Litehous Child Development Center Daycare and Preschool came together at the Sea Cows Bay Community Center to receive an update on the SMART Schools Project currently being implemented in their school.

The SMART school initiative promotes safe, healthy and green school environments. Persons attending the meeting also received a presentation from Deputy Director of the Department of Disaster Management,  Evangeline Inniss-Springer, on Healthy Schools. At the meeting Mrs. Inniss-Springer assisted parents in making simple healthy snacks for their children and participants also had the opportunity to sample what they made.

The SMART School Pilot Project is being implemented in three schools in the Sea Cows Bay area. It was developed by the Department of Disaster Management, endorsed by the Ministry of Education and Culture and is being funded by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) through the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA).
